Arnold Borofka (Pa), age 83, went home to our Lord on December 28, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born April 11, 1930, to Peter and Anna (Swartz) Borofka in the town of Cooks Valley. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1948 and married Joyce Zwiefelhofer in June of 1952. Arnold farmed on his own while continuing to assist his parents on their farm in Cooks Valley. He farmed until the mid-seventies only to then start working construction for Mitchell Movers and Smiskey Construction. Arnold also hauled milk for the Colfax Creamery and worked at Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls. In his spare time, he loved to hunt, fish and “tinker” with his sons. He wove many blankets out of little squares made on his loom, which he gave to his family. He had a large collection of tractors including his beloved Cockshutt. He enjoyed attending auctions and finding many “treasures”. Of all of his treasures, he treasured his family the most.
Arnold is survived by thirteen children; Mary Borofka-Webb (Charles Webb), Helen Blicher (David), Mark (Cathy), John (Linda), Rose Hellebyck (Bob), Rita Johnson (Jerry), Jane Borofka, Luke (Barbara), Matthew, Andrew (Erin), Joseph (Dawn), James (Laura), and Susan Burgess (Matt). He is also survived by thirty-eight grandchildren; Paul, Jonathan, Isaac, and Joya (Borofka-Webb), Beth Eckwright, Allison Bourgraf, Aaron Blicher, Samantha Borofka, Becky L’Allier, Christopher Smith, Myriah Borofka, Mitchell Borofka, Jeff Lay, Stacy Sackmaster, Stephanie Samson, Stuart Samson, Stella Borofka, Angela Romero, Janelle Joas, Brittany Zold, Amber Knudson, Trinity Borofka, Zachary Borofka, Lindsay Borofka, Larken Borofka, Amanda Borofka, Joshua Borofka, Chelsea Borofka, Baylee Borofka, MaKenna Borofka, Jacob Borofka, Madysen Borofka, Lucy Borofka, Audrey Borofka, Casandra Burgess, Matthew Burgess, and Marissa Burgess; twenty-five great- grandchildren; sister: Corrine Bowe; two godchildren Ann Schick and Chris Geissler; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death in 1988 by his wife of 35 years, Joyce. Also preceding him in death was his parents, Peter and Anna, a son, Ronald, one son in infancy and brother: Thomas Borofka.
Arnold considered himself greatly blessed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Cooks Valley, WI.
Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013 at St. John’s Catholic Church where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 p.m.
