Ardith O. Gilberts (Anderson)

Ardith O. Gilberts, age 93, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at her apartment in Eau Claire, surrounded by her family. She was born October 4, 1920 In Running Valley to Olaf and Alice (Emerson) Anderson. She was baptized on November 25, 1920 at her parent’s home in Running Valley and confirmed on April 29, 1934 at Hay River Lutheran Church. After graduating from Colfax High School and Dunn County Normal School, she taught school at Maple Ridge, Downing and the Misselt and Plainview schools in Wheeler. On January 31, 1942 she married the love of her life, Raymond Gilberts. Together they raised three children. They owned and operated a dairy farm near Sand Creek and in February of 2013 moved to the Milestone Assisted Living in Eau Claire. Ardith was a gracious hostess whose life revolved around serving others. She was an avid reader, enjoyed volunteering at Dunn County Health Care Center and loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Raymond of Eau Claire; three children: Lynn (Teresa Everson) Gilberts of Sand Creek, Joyce (Bill) Barten of New Auburn and Judy (John) Hovre of Austin TX; one brother: Wayne Anderson of Denver CO; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Lowell Anderson and one sister: Gwen Laatch Overby.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Lutheran Church in Sand Creek with Pastor Barb Koch officiating. Interment of ashes will be in the Our Savior Cemetery in Sand Creek. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church on the 19th.
