Obituary for Anna T. Schmidt

Anna T. Schmidt, age 90, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Chippewa Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chippewa Falls. She was born May 7, 1922 in the Town of Tilden to Bernard and Katherine (Boos) Meinen. She married John W. Schmidt on July 18, 1938 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Tilden. She worked at home as a farm wife and was a member of St. Paul’s and St. Peter’s Catholic Churches. She was willing travel anywhere, whether it be on a shopping trip or to a family event. Family was the most important thing to Anna and she never would miss a gathering if she could help it. In her free time she enjoyed cooking and would never pass up a card game. The holidays were an especially important part of her life. There was not an inch of Anna’s house that was not decorated in Christmas décor. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by three sons: Roger (Ruth) Schmidt of Medford WI, Daniel (Madeline) Schmidt of St. Paul Park MN and James (Joyce) Schmidt of Bloomer; six daughters: Doris Walker of Sycamore IL, Jane (Bob) Mayer of Chippewa Falls, Elaine (Douglas) Bowe of Cadott, Karen (Bill) Schulte of West St. Paul MN, Mary (Glen) Geissler of Bloomer and Carla (Jim) Norris of Burnsville MN; sister: Margaret Rubenzer of Tilden; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Meinen and Merita Schmidt; 28 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Bernard and Katherine; her husband: John; infant daughter; five brothers: Albert, Julius, Roman, George and Bernard Meinen; sisters: Regina Prince, Maurita Schmidt and Catherine Rihn; in-laws: Jonn and Catherine (Secraw) Schmidt; brothers-in-law: Leon Prince, Arnie Rubenzer, Ted Rihn, Earl and Cyril Zenner, Henry and Herman Schmidt, and Albert Michels; sisters-in-law: Ethel, Susan, and Sylvia Meinen, Agnes and Rosie Zenner, Anna Michels; sons-in-law: Ronald Goettl and William Walker; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at St Peter’s Catholic Church in Tilden with Father Ed Shuttleworth officiating. Interment will take place at St Peter’s Cemetery following the service. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer. There will be a rosary service at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
