Alice A. Boese, age 91, passed away Friday, April 18, 2025, at Dove Health Care in Bloomer. She was born on August 16, 1933, on the family farm south of Bloomer to Herman and May (Holmen) Mullen. She attended a country grade school and graduated from Bloomer High School.
On September 5, 1953, Alice married Clayton Boese in Bloomer. She raised her family and worked alongside Clayton on the farm. After moving to town, Alice worked in housekeeping at Hetzel’s Nursing Home and at Rainbow Kids rocking babies. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and later at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Alice was very active at the aquatic center and always loved getting in the pool to go swimming. She also enjoyed going to sporting events, cheering on her grandchildren, going up to Birchwood and enjoying the cabin life. She will also be remembered for her quick wit and great one liners.
Alice is survived by her children: Julie (Don) Krause of Sand Creek, Lary (Annie) Boese of Bloomer, Daniel “Dobber” (Wendy) Boese of Chetek; Laura (Brian) Bleskacek of Bloomer; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Ione Jones; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Herman and May Mullen; husband: Clayton; sons: Rhon, Alan and Roger in infancy; grandson: Chad Boese; brothers: Leonard, Raymond and Clarence Mullen.
A private service will be held at Olson Funeral Home with burial at the Auburn Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the White Pine Pavilion in Bloomer with a meal starting at 5:00 PM. The family would like to thank the staff of Dove Healthcare and Mayo Hospice for their loving care of Alice. Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer is assisting the family with arrangements.
