We just learned of your mothers passing. Our family would like to express our heart felt condolences. Your mom was like a mother to me and my husband. Her and Gordy were a big part of our lives. We own the cabin down the hill from where they lived for many years. She was always there to greet me when we would arrive for our extended stays at the cabin. Enjoying a cup of coffee and sharing recipes and canning advice was always one the fist oder of business. She enjoyed visiting with our youngest daughter and our daughter felt the same - Marie was her grandma (at least that is what she called her) We truly loved your mom and were so blessed to have known her. We kept in touch up until a year ago until she must have changed cell numbers :( Our hearts are so heavy knowing she is no longer with us. She was one of the most spunky and hard working women we have ever met. We lost our mom (Barb Podgorak) on Jan 6th of this year as well. I hope they are up in heaven sharing stories together. There is not a dry eye in the house over your moms passing. Our condolences - Bill and Vivian Backmann (Vivian formerly Podgorak) Hugs to you all!

Cooking! She was such a hard worker and took such good care of my dad. Tending a garden, raising rabbits, making food all the time, getting a cookbook published. She also tried to make relationships better! A solid soul and gave her all to my father. I know they are together now and she is now free from pain and troubles of this life. My husband and I feel grateful we knew her. Rest In Peace and the Lord show you that “golden kitchen” of Heaven.
