John and Jennifer Custer

John Custer, age 74, and his daughter, Jennifer Custer, age 46, both passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Lake Holcombe. John was born to Harold and Genevieve (Selzener) Custer on August 1, 1945. He married Brenda Zwiefelhofer on May 12, 1973 in Bloomer. John loved his family deeply and especially loved spending time with his grandkids. He was the best husband, dad, and Papa we could ever be blessed to have. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, pontooning, snowmobiling, and hanging with all of his friends, especially Mark. John was a hard worker, always thinking about retiring and finally looking forward to taking life easy spending less time at work and more time with his family at the lake. Jennifer was born October 25, 1973 to John and Brenda (Zwiefelhofer) Custer. She graduated from Bloomer High School and worked for Chippewa Industries and McDonalds in Eau Claire. Jenny lived life to the fullest and always had a smile on her face. She was the best daughter, sister, and aunt to her family, always knowing what everyone was doing. She was a friend to everyone and never forgot a person she met. Jen loved working in the garden, fishing, listening to country music, helping around the house, and cheering on the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Bucks. Most of all, she was her Dad’s best friend. They will forever be loved and deeply missed.

They are survived by his wife and her mother: Brenda of Lake Holcombe; his children/her siblings: John (Jenni) Custer of Bloomer and Janelle (Randy) Stearns of Bloomer; his siblings/her aunts and uncles: Jim (Vonnie) Custer, Anne (Nort) Hurt, Kay (Pete) Gehring, Janet (Rich) Helgeson and Anita (John) Amodt; his grandchildren/her nieces and nephews: Alec, Olivia, Dylan, Sophia, Keannah and Brennah; his in-laws/her aunts and uncles: Carole (Steve) Schmidt, Joyce Brueck, Rodney (Sue) Zwiefelhofer, Gail (Keith) Harings, Scott (Dawn) Zwiefelhofer and Lisa (Jim) Ruf.

They were preceded in death by his parents/her grandparents: Harold and Genevieve (Selzener) Custer and Brenda’s Parents/her grandparents: Wilbert and Alvera (Bowe) Zwiefelhofer; his in-laws/her uncles: Joel Zwiefelhofer, Steven Zwiefelhofer and Joe Brueck; his niece/ her cousin: Melissa Schmidt;
