George Lund

George R. Lund, age 80, passed away in Rochester MN on December 19, 2019. He was born on the old canning factory farm in Chetek, WI on January 1, 1939 to Henry and Ruth (Knipfer) Lund. He graduated as the Salutatorian on the New Auburn class of 1956. He worked for Western Electric and Sola Electric in Chicago before joining the US Army in 1960. After 6 years in the military he worked at several tool and die shops building and repairs all types of dies, jigs and fixtures. George married his high school sweetheart Ruth Ann Robey in 1956 and they had one girl Valerie. They were later divorced and George married Clara Dalen, who is the mother of the rest of his children. Ruth and George remained close friends through all life’s trials and tribulations and the remarried in 2010. George had a great sense of humor and he loved to tell jokes. In his free time enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sports. He loved his dogs and all animal life. He loved his family and friends and is thankful to all those who helped him out over the years. He said “I hope that my friends and family will remember me as a good man and I hope god will forgive him for some of his sins. May you all have a long and happy life, God Bless You”

He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Ruth (Knipfer) Lund; brothers: Herman Schnoor, Kenneth, Vernon, Roy and Harvey Lund; sisters: Clara (in infancy) Sharon Boehm and Glenice (Pete) Ferrari; grandson: J.D. Larrison

He is survived by his wife: Ruth; children: Valerie Hanson of New Auburn; Shawn Hill of Kilbourne, IL Yvonne Wright of Plainfield IL, William of Romeoville, IL, Brian of Bolingbrook, IL, Travis of Woodridge, IL, Myrna McElroy (Davis) of New Auburn, Linnae (Jim Cox) Cole of Chetek, Sally (Mike) Michalek of Bloomer; daughters in-law, Kama and Kimberly; numerous nieces nephews other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Salisbury Bar in New Auburn, WI from 12:00PM-6:00PM.
