Dennis Michael Higgins passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Mike died at home surrounded by his family. He was 73 years old.

Michael was born in 1948 to Naomi (Whipple) and John Higgins. He was raised in Orland Park, Illinois, with his siblings Jack, William, Kathryn, and Christine. He served in the United States Army and honorably served his country in Vietnam in 1969-1970.

Mike married his high school sweetheart Katherine (Kutchins) in July of 1973. Together they raised their three children, Heather, Sarah, and Michael John in Peotone, Illinois. Michael is survived by his loving wife Katherine, daughter Heather (William) Bonacorda and son Michael (Tessa) Higgins, Grandchildren Blake and Sophia Bonacorda and Hadley and Kellan Higgins. As well as his brother, Bill and sisters, Kathryn (Lance Thompson) and Christine Harris.

Michael is preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah; brother, Jack; his parents, Naomi and John (Jack); sister-in-law, MaryAnn; and brother-in-law, Rick Harris.

After a successful career as a Vice President with John Burns Construction Company, Mike retired to New Auburn, Wisconsin with Kathy. He loved to fish with his children and grandchildren and spent many hours on Chain Lake. An avid golfer, Mike played often with his friends in a weekly league. In the winter months, he played pool with some of the same friends in a weekly league. His favorite moments were spent surrounded by his family which included many nieces and nephews, and friends.

A visitation for Michael is planned for Friday, November 12th from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at Modell Funeral Home, 12641 W 143rd St, Homer Glen, IL 60491. Funeral services will be at the Funeral Home on Saturday, November 13th at 11:00 am with interment to follow at Orland Memorial Park Cemetery.
